OAN

Honey is a powerful antioxidant and a source of clean energy. These properties make honey a natural source of healing, helping to protect the body from inflammation. It strengthens the immune system and soothes the upper respiratory tract during colds as it is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.

Honey also supports full mental function and strengthens memory thanks to the antioxidant pinocembrin it contains. Honey, which also helps to prevent problems such as diarrhoea by alleviating the effects of digestive system disorders, also helps to replace the water and electrolytes lost by the body after diarrhoea (oral rehydration).
In honey, which is a source of protein, proline has a very important place among the 20 amino acids that make up protein, which shows the purity and quality of honey.

The proline value of the Organic Munzur Mountain Honey used in OAN products is between 1010 – 1239.5.

Organic Munzur Mountain Honey, used in OAN products, is produced by Caucasian bees in the 1,400-2,500m high region of the Munzur Mountains with an altitude of 3,400m, where there are many honey plants, nectar flora, oak forests, streams, glacial lakes, waterfalls, plateaus, no settlements and no base stations, by Caucasian bees in a completely organic system without any intervention.

Organic honey produced by Caucasian bees, living in a natural area where there is no radiation of any kind and producing at the peak of their potential, forms the basis of OAN Special Blends. These special ingredients are also delivered to you in special jars with magnetic field and radiation protection.

Honey is also used in diabetes management as part of a balanced diet.

It is a common ingredient in many foods and is available in many forms. In almost every period of human history, its extraordinary benefits to human health have been recognized and it has been used as a key ingredient in many traditional medicines and treatment protocols. Modern Western medicine also gives honey its rightful place. Honey, which is particularly beneficial for the development of the skeletal and nervous systems of growing children and adolescents, is very important in the diet of people of all ages. We are talking about pure, organic honey, produced by bees living in their natural environment and not manipulated with sugary water to produce more honey.

Let’s take a closer look at honey:

An important source of nutrients

One tablespoon or 20g contains honey (1)
61 calories
Fat: 0 g
Protein: 0 g
Carbohydrates: 17 g
Dietary fibre: 0 g
Riboflavin 1% Daily Value
Copper 1% DDA
Honey is essentially pure, natural sugar, fat free and contains trace amounts of protein and fibre. The main significance of honey is that it is rich in plant compounds known as polyphenols, which have very important health benefits.

Rich in antioxidants

Minimally processed honey contains many important bioactive phytochemicals and antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. Darker honeys tend to contain more antioxidants than lighter honeys (2).

Antioxidants help neutralise reactive oxygen species (ROS) in your body, which can build up in cells and cause damage. This damage can contribute to conditions such as premature ageing, type 2 diabetes and heart disease (2).
Most of honey’s health benefits are therefore attributed to its antioxidant content.

May lower blood sugar levels

Although honey raises your blood sugar levels like other types of sugar, the antioxidants it contains may help protect against metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Researchers have found that honey can increase levels of adiponectin, a hormone that reduces inflammation and improves blood sugar regulation. There is also evidence that daily honey consumption can improve fasting blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes (3).
However, although honey is slightly better than refined sugar for people with diabetes, it should be consumed in moderation and in consultation with a doctor (4).
It is also important to be aware that some manufacturers dilute honey with simple syrup. Although honey adulteration is illegal in most countries, it remains a widespread problem (5).

May improve heart health

Honey may help prevent heart disease, improve heart function and health, and lower cholesterol, among many other benefits. According to one review, honey may help lower blood pressure, improve blood lipid levels, regulate your heartbeat and prevent the death of healthy cells (6). An observational study involving more than 40 people over the age of 4,500 linked moderate honey consumption with a lower risk of high blood pressure in women. A rodent study has also shown that honey helps protect the heart from oxidative stress (7, 8). In addition, raw honey typically contains propolis, a resin produced by bees from sap-producing trees and similar plants. Propolis may improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels (9).

Promotes wound and burn healing

The use of topical honey therapy for wound and burn healing has a historical background. The practice is still common today. When applied to the skin, honey can be part of an effective treatment plan for burns, wounds and many other skin conditions. It is known to be particularly effective in treating diabetic foot ulcers. A review of 26 trials on honey and wound care found that honey was most effective in healing partial-thickness burns and infected wounds after surgery (10). Researchers suggest that the healing power of honey is due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects (11). However, we would like to remind you that if you have a serious burn, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Can help control cough in children

Coughing is a common problem for children with upper respiratory infections. These infections can affect sleep and quality of life for both children and parents. A review of several trials on honey and cough in children found that honey was more effective than diphenhydramine in relieving cough symptoms. It may also help reduce the duration of the cough (12). Another review found that it may improve sleep quality in both parents and children with cough.  And unlike some cough medicines, honey has no side effects (13). We would like to remind you that honey should never be given to children under 1 year of age because of the risk of botulism.

May have a beneficial effect on men

A review written in 2021 of various human and animal studies (14) found that honey may help men with erectile dysfunction by improving erection problems due to its vasodilating effects. It was also found that honey consumption increased daily sperm production and sperm longevity, and stabilised testosterone levels.

Important warnings
All of the above benefits apply to natural, pure, organic honey.
Remember that if the honey you consume is not organic and pure, it will cause your blood sugar levels to rise. As honey contains sugar, even if it is natural, limit your intake. Moderation in honey consumption is very important.
If you need to control your blood sugar or weight, consult your doctor before adding honey to your diet. Consuming large amounts of honey consistently, especially over a long period of time, may contribute to weight gain and increase your risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease (15).
Do not give honey to children under one year of age.
Do not consume honey and honey products if you are allergic.
